3Shape Trios Intraoral Scanning

A skull that shows correct jaw alignment for jaw surgery

Technology has rapidly been impacting all aspects of our life. This is also true in implant dentistry where technology is being utilized to constantly improve and streamline the quality of products and reduce time frames. Thankfully, old-school impressions are no longer the only option. The Trios Scanner allows us to take a digital impression-a highly accurate, digital 3D image of the individual characteristics of your tooth surface and gum tissues. The Trios Scanner is all about keeping you comfortable while delivering precise imagery, without the putty-filled impression tray that can make you gag!

After Dr. Barrett and Dr. Higley take your Trios scan, we will coordinate with the lab and general dentist for finalization of the implant abutment and crown.  Often times previously, a “stock” component was modified to fit the tooth space. Now the abutment is designed and “customized” to fit your unique tooth space and follow your tissue contours ideally. Your restorative dentist can control the entire design of the abutment including the materials that are used.

Because the impressions are digital it is highly accurate compared to traditional stone models. The final prosthetics now require less adjustments from your general dentist. The greatest part is that this technology and these advantages discussed will not carry any additional costs over the traditional method.
